Fix rss feed plugin is a wordpress plugin, and it can fix wordpress rss feed error "Error on line 2: The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed." while you burn wordpress rss feed from www.feedburner.com, also fix error "XML or text declaration not at start of entity" in firefox, and fix error "XML declaration not at beginning of document" in opera.

2010-02-12 release v2.0, add backup and restore function.
2010-09-19 release v3.0, need not to modify error in php files directly, it will use a good and simple way, it just modify wp-blog-header.php in blog directory.
2011-08-10 release v3.1, only open Donate url in first usage time, thanks for Colin Reynolds’s advice.
1. Upload to your plugins folder, usually `wp-content/plugins/` and unzip the file, it will create a `wp-content/plugins/fix-rss-feed/` directory.
2. Activate the plugin on the plugin screen.
3. done
Usage steps:
1. Into the Dashboard admin-> options -> fix rss feed
2. Click on the “Fix wordpress rss feed error” button, then your feed error will be fixed. If there are any errors after fixed rss feed, you can click “restore fix” button to restore.
3. All fix are completed, you will find your wordpress rss feed no mistake,^_^
Uninstallation steps:
1. go into admin->plugins ,disable fix-rss-feed
2. done.
- if php file is not writable, how to do?
If your os is the windows, please check your file whether is read-only, so, in the Explorer right-click the file, choose Properties, uncheck read-only attribute, and then click "ok" button, final your file can be written..If your os is linux, using ftp or WinSCP into your server, find the file, right-click the file, choose Properties, please set file permissions to 777, and then click "ok" button, final your file can be written..
If it is linux of ssh login, then enter the server, to find documents, use chmod command to set permissions, for example:.
chmod 777 test.php.
final you can write documents.

I get this on all of the files:
/wp-includes/feed.php.bak can not be created, please check file permission
/wp-includes/feed-rdf.php.bak can not be created, please check file permission
but the plugin says it fixed the problem. Tried changing the wp-includes directory to 777 but the problem remains however.

I’m getting blank error message for my feed on my test blog for some reason. I’ve ran your plugin, and I still keep getting that error. I even disabled all plugin. What else can cause this?

Hmmmm it might be Firefox, I’m running v4 beta. I think it’s a bug, because feedburner displays it OK and rss readers are reading it just fine.

Thanks for the plugin, but it’s really dangerous to use it if you create bunch of files with the .bak suffix. All such files can be easily downloaded as raw text file. You can imagine what can happen if someone downloads the wp-config.php
I suggest you to rewrite it with prefix: bak.file.php or “suffix” like file.bak.php so it stays in all cases php and is not downloadable as raw text.

Thanks for the plugin, but it didn’t work for me. After the check it says it’s all ok, but the error remains untouched.
I’ve disabled every single plugin but yours, run it again and nothing. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Thank for your plugin it did a terrific job fixing my rss feed. I am however having problems with my New York Theme options center. The options area is no longer functioning or able to update. This issue could, of course may unrelated. Just looking for input…suggestions. Giant thanks again!

I’m with a bunch of the others above. It’s not working for me. I’m using the latest v3.0 version. Does anyone have any suggestions?
It sounds like it’s a core WP issue, possibly related to certain themes. Why isn’t it being addressed there?

Fix doesn’t work on my Wordpress. When I run the fix, i get a successful message Success, your rss feed had been fixed, you can check it from xxxxxxx. But nothing changes. Any Idea?

There is not “blank line error” in your hakke.ch feed, we can not fix your other error.

I’m trying to fix my RSS feed by using your Fix RSS Feed plugin. It appears to load and install properly but I don’t get an “options” button in the Dashboard as you show in your screen shot. So I can’t do anything from there to fix the feed.
I am running WP 3.1 and have tried uploading the plugin from the WP Admin as well as manually installing it through my cpanel. Each time, it loads and activates with no problem but I just don’t see where to make the fix.

Hi,
Firstly thanks for the plug-in. I know it must’ve took some time and effort to have made it.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with my site (en.techorange.com). I’ve always pressed the ‘Fix’ button but my site would always crash. I would revive it with the ‘Restore Fix’ button.
Today, I tried it again. Unfortunately, I pressed the ‘Fix’ button twice and was unable to restore the fix. The site now remains in its error mode, which is the following:
“Content Encoding Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.
* Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.”
Is there any way to just get my site back online? Any instructions on where to look would be great.

This plugin does not work at all. Wordpress said to deactivate plugin. My theme is Twenty Ten with not a lot of plugins. I don’t get why this doesn’t work. Everything is updated.

Worked for me so thanks for that, however it then caused problems for me when trying to post to blog using Windows Live Writer. Disabling plugin solved issue straight away.

This plugin is very dangereaous ! It totaly break my wordpress and spent many time to fix it. It’s abolutly not stable. I encourage to not use it…

i am getting this error and i have installed the fix and i am still getting this error i have installed and uninstall and reinstalled, gone into the files and had a look at all of them and they all look fine can someone help out please here is the error below i have been stuck on this for a few days now and caret seam to find the error o i have also disabled all plug ins as well to try and eliminate the source but to no avale.

Hmmn, I think, I will have to ask my techy friend to help me out fixing my feeds. This is way over my head. I want to try but the comments here pretty much sums up what I might get after doing all the steps. Anybody fixed anything yet?

This is a really great plugin (and idea). I’m glad it works for people. Brilliant WP Plugin fixed my missing RSS feed at first attempt! I have deleted all the rest I tried… Feedburner kept reporting that there was no RSS feed on my website and I tried searching the source code and true it was not visible on my home page so I am glad to have found out about Fix RSS Feed V3.1 as I was about to give up!
PS: I should have donated the small amount but I had already exceeded my PayPal allowance on worthless purchases.
I will recommend this plugin and return next month…

I used this a few years ago and it worked. After updating to WordPress 3.4.2, my RSS Feed doesn’t work so I downloaded the latest version and ran it. It said it fixed the feed but it didn’t. I had paid $4.99 donation so I’d like to see if you can make it work for WordPress 3.4.2. I really need to fix my RSS feed!
